Hello, I’m Zaynab Wazeer, the international advisor for NCTC.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Zaynab came to the U.S. with her husband on an F-2 visa and later became an F-1 student. She now works part-time as an international student advisor.
Zaynab is fluent in English, Tamil, and Sinhala.

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION
Students applying from outside the U.S. are required to submit the following documents for admission.

Submit an online application.

Official high school transcript/certificate including graduation date.
Foreign credentials must be accompanied by an official general evaluation completed by a current member of NACES. Evaluation must indicate the applicant has completed the equivalent of a U.S. high school diploma. Unofficial copies of evaluations will not be accepted. You can use any NACES member company to get an evaluation. We recommend SpanTran for discounted pricing, and quicker turnaround for NCTC applicants. Please apply using their request form.
Note: If a degree program has been completed in your home country, we require official transcripts and degree certificate. An official evaluation completed by a member of NACES will be required. An evaluation is required for the highest education level earned.

Satisfactory score on the TOEFL, IELTS (academic) or Pearson PTE (academic) English proficiency test.

TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): Exams taken before January 21, 2026, we accept a minimum score of 71. Exams taken on or after January 21, 2026, we accept a minimum score of 4. NCTC code for reporting purposes in 6245. Testing dates and locations are available at toefl.org

IELTS (academic): we accept a minimum overall band score of 6.0. Please contact the test center directly where you took the IELTS test and request that your official test scores be sent electronically using the IELTS system. All IELTS test centers worldwide are able to send scores electronically to our institution.

Evidence of $25,870 (U.S. currency) available per 9 month term is required. It is imperative that adequate financial support be prearranged. Original financial statements dated within 6 months of semester start date, or an original letter from the bank on official bank letter head dated within the last 6 months. The name of the sponsor and currency should be included. If the bank statement/ letter is in a language other than English, an official, notarized translation must be attached to it.
Additional proof of $5,000 (U.S. currency) is required for each dependent.

Statement of Financial Support- Based on the sponsor, complete the Statement of Financial Support to accompany the bank statements. Original forms are required.

Proof of bacterial meningitis vaccination within the past 5 years if under 22 years of age.

Schedule TSIA2 before your arrival in the U.S.

Proof of housing arrangements. Information regarding on-campus student housing can be found through Residence Life. If you will be residing with a sponsor, the sponsor must complete and notarize the Affidavit of Sponsor form. The original notarized form is required.

ONCE YOU ARRIVE IN THE U.S.
You can arrive to the United States 30 days prior to your program start date. The program start date is on your I-20.
Schedule your appointment to meet with the International Student Advisor at least one week before the class start date. Please e-mail international@nctc.edu to schedule an appointment.
Take the TSI exam on the scheduled date. Your final scores will be handed to you after the exam. Bring the final scores, along with the rest of the documents mentioned below to the admissions appointment.
Visit the admissions office at NCTC with your:

Once all requirements are met, the Admissions Office will arrange for you to see an advisor to register for classes.
