Dual Credit

All new Dual Credit students and parents should attend a face-to-face information session at the high school. If the high school does not have one scheduled, please review the information available in our online orientation. Students should only take Dual Credit courses if they are willing to put forth the extra effort, as these are true college classes at NCTC.

BE AWARE OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DEADLINE.

• Complete an online application through ApplyTexas, using this step-by-step guide to help.

• Apply Texas will send an immediate email that your application has been forwarded to NCTC. If you do not get this email, go back to your application to make sure it is submitted properly.

• Your application may take up to 3 weeks to process. Be sure to check your email regularly! NCTC will send additional emails that contain your College ID, Password, and information on missing documents.

• Set up your NCTC student portal through Onelogin utilizing the credentials you receive in your email.

BE AWARE OF YOUR HIGH SCHOOL DEADLINE.

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is NCTC’s preferred test for college readiness.

• Check with your high school counselor for available TSIA2 testing dates.

• If your high school does not offer the TSIA2, schedule an appointment online with the NCTC Testing Center. The TSIA2 Pre-Assessment Activity is required before testing at NCTC.

• Testing should be completed well in advance of registration.

• It is possible to meet passing standards using other approved assessment instruments.

• College Readiness test scores are not required for Career & Technicalprograms.

• Proof of meningitis vaccination if taking classes in person

• Other documents may be necessary depending on your application and NCTC Admissions requirements.

• Each high school has specific registration and payment deadlines. Check with your high school counselor for more information.

• Check your student portal on MyNCTC to determine tuition and fees. Be sure you understand your school’s policy.

• Bills can be paid by phone (940) 668-4200, in person at most business offices, or online through the MyNCTC student services portal. Before payment, the business office may need to rerun your bill for accuracy.

• Follow these instructions to make a payment.

• Payment arrangements must be made at time of registration. Dual Credit students will be included in all NCTC drop dates for nonpayment. Drops will take place on the last Monday of each month, unless affected by a holiday.

• Apply for NCTC Scholarships before April 1st (fall) / October 15th (spring).

• Public high school students who have qualified for the State Free and Reduced Lunch Program and have been verified through the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board / Texas Education Agency are eligible to take dual credit at no cost.

• All students who drop or withdraw from a course during any semester may be responsible for paying back a portion of the tuition.

• Unlike high school, students are required to buy their own textbooks.

• You can rent or purchase used copies but these can sell out early.

• NCTC has bookstores on the Gainesville and Corinth campuses. You can also purchase books online.

• Students on the National Free and Reduced Lunch Program take dual credit at no cost, including textbooks and fees. *Check with your high school counselor for specific information.

• Some digital textbook fees are added directly to students’ accounts and accessed online when the course opens. These MUST be paid through the MyNCTC student portal or the Business Office.
